Garnet Mimms, who practically invented Soul Music with early Sixties hits like "Cry Baby" and "I'll Take Care of You," returns July 1st with Is Anybody Out There?, an album of songs which have an inspirational element in their lyrics. Garnet has served as apastor sincehe took himself out of the music industry, ministering to those unfortunates in the penal system, and only himself out of the musicindustry, ministering to those unfortunates in the penal system, and only chose to record songs which spoke to his faith or contemporary issues. Jon Tiven produced the album and co_wrote most of the songs with collaborators such as Dan Penn, Little Milton Campbell, Spooner Oldham, Felix Cavaliere and Marty Brown, and most of them join Garnet on his record as well as Nashvillians Buddy Miller, Jonell Mosser, Wayne Jackson, and Los Angeles' own P.F. Sloan(who wrote a new song"limitless" for the set).
